Phthalates & Phthalate Free Product
Phtha-what, you ask?
Phthaltes are a group of compounds made from alcohols and phthalic anhydride. They are oily, colorless, odorless liquids that do not evaporate readily.
Phthalates have established a very strong safety profile over 50 years in which they have been in general use. Despite a long record of safe use, some issues have been raised about possible human health effects. The European union and the State of California has authorised a ban on toys and child products containing " more than a trace amount" of "plastic softening phthalates on items that spend significant time on the skin or can be mouthed by children.
